Eighth Sunday after Pentecost

To our guests and visitors: We welcome you today and cordially invite you to join us in our worship services. Our custom is to stand to sing and praise God; to sit for instruction; and to kneel for prayer.

The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) in which our liturgy is found is in the red book. The Hymnal 1982 is the blue book. Hymn numbers are on the announcement board in the front of the church as well as in the bulletin. Hymn numbers preceded by an S, as in S 204 are found in the front section of the Hymnal.

It is also custom in Episcopal Congregations to be prayerfully quiet before worship and then to greet each other during the Peace, at the conclusion of our worship, and during our Fellowship hour after services.

All baptized Christians are welcome to receive the Bread of Heaven and the Cup of Salvation at God's Altar. If you do not wish to receive the wine from the common cup, the first chalice bearer will offer you the intinction cup into which you dip the bread. If you do not wish to receive Communion, you may come up for a blessing.

Sunday School: Is taking a break for the summer as we develop a fuller program.

Parish Nurse: The Parish Nurse, Doris Schaefer will be in on Wednesday, July 9 at 9:30 am.

Ride Needed: A sign-up list for volunteers to pick up Trudy Morrow at Adams Place on Sundays has been posted in the Lounge. Volunteers are needed for July.

Habitat for Humanity: After reading about Habitat for Humanity and you want to know more about the Episcopal Habitat for Humanity (EHFH) in the St. Louis area, to to the EHFH website at www.EHFHP.org. The construction schedule shifts to the regular routine of limited weekday construction and Saturday work.

Penny Outreach: Please continue to donate aluminum cans for Outreach. We use the money at Christmas time for community outreach.

Trinity Food Pantry: Suggestions include: jelly, spaghetti, cereal, toilet paper, spring cleaning supplies.

Today's Plate Offering: is designated for the Rector's Discretionary Fund as it is the first Sunday of the month. Donations go toward ministry in the community.

St. Matthew's Day 2008: Planning has begun for the St. Matthew's Day celebration in September. We are planning on inviting all past Priests who have served St. Matthews as well as building a list of invites for all past members. If you know of any past members and their whereabouts, please let the office know.

Wanted! Memories of St. Matthew's

Would you be willing to write it up to be put in next month's newsletter (and hopefully we will have enough for many months to come)? Please do NOT include plastic, glass, metals, any type of cardboard, phonebooks or trash.

Schnucks Coupons:

Schnucks has implemented a new program recently. At the customer service counter of each participating Schnucks store is red and black "eScript Community Card". It looks like a credit card but it isn't. The sticker on the front of the card gives a toll-free number that you call to activate the card. When you call they will ask you the zip code of the church (63122) as well as the name of the church. Or you can give them St. Matthews Identification number which is 164503184.

Schnucks eScript Community Card

When you shop at Schnucks, give the check-out person the card, they will scan it and the total amount of your groceries, excluding tax, will be accumulated each calendar month to determine how much the church will receive. That amount will then be wire-transferred to the church each month.

Amount of fund raising from Schnucks
0 - $300 1%
$301 - $600 2%
$601 - $999 3%
