Staff Rev. Doris C. Westfall - Rector Doris felt a call to the ministry at an early age and always has been active in the church. She learned to love sacred music by singing in the church choir, which was led by her Uncle Bill at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Newark, N.J. After leaving St. Andrew's, she attended Trinity Episcopal Church Woodbridge, N.J. where Uncle Bill became the organist and choirmaster. Doris received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. She followed that degree 11 years later with a Master in Social Work degree from St. Louis University. In 1999, she was given the Social Worker of the Year Award by the Missouri chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. She received her Master of Divinity in 2005 from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. While a seminarian, Doris was blessed to serve St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Tullahoma, Tennessee. Ordained a Deacon in December 2004, she served at St. James, Sewanee, Tennessee. On the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, June 24, 2005 she was ordained a priest by the Right Reverend George Wayne Smith, 10th Bishop of Missouri. Her primary assignment was to Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Charles. While there she also served several small congregations: Grace, Clarksville; St. John's, Eolia; and St. Matthew's, Mexico. She served as the Interim Priest at the Episcopal Campus Ministry program at Washington University for more than 16 months. In November 2006, she received her call to St. Matthew's - Warson Woods. On January 14, 2007, in the midst of a major power outage in St Louis, she conducted her first service as Rector. To the joy of many, she was installed as Rector on April 24, 2007 at the Celebration of a New Ministry.
